Downtown Sunnyvale Project

Sidewalk work along Mathilda Avenue and Washington Avenue, between Mathilda Avenue and Taaffe Street, will continue as conditions permit.

The sidewalk along the west side of Sunnyvale Avenue, between McKinley and Iowa avenues, has been completed.

Work continues on buildings to improve their appearance and resistance to weather.

Historic Murphy Avenue Streetscape and Utility Project

Work on the electrical and irrigation systems in the center area of Murphy Avenue has been completed.

The asphalt pavement under the pavers has been placed between roadway curbs and gutters in the north end of Murphy Avenue; demolition of sidewalks on both sides is underway. Pedestrians are using the roadway area for access to businesses while work progresses on the sidewalks.

Curbs and gutters in the southerly section of Murphy Avenue were placed last week. Preparation for placing the asphalt paving layer is underway.

Work is underway to rebuild the intersection of Evelyn and Murphy avenues. The northerly portion of the road and crosswalk has been completed, and the middle portion is currently in construction.

The Farmers Market will continue to operate in the Caltrain station surface parking lot until Murphy Avenue construction work is completed.

Downtown Sunnyvale visitors and shoppers are encouraged to park in the new parking structure on the west side of Macy's. The entrance to more than 650 free parking spaces is from Taaffe Street, south of Washington Avenue.
